Welcome

Welcome to my blog about my quilting journey! I started quilting in 2006 with a quilt of my own design which started as a cushion cover and ended up as a single bed sized quilt! Now I'm totally hooked....maybe obsessed is a better word for it.

Sunday Stash

I have been trying to behave myself this year and stay away as much as possible from online fabric shops so haven't had a whole lot to share.  Last month, however, as part of Kristy at Quiet Plays And Sew On BOM I was lucky enough to win a layer cake from The Fat Quarter Shop.  Unfortunately when it didn't arrive after 4 weeks it turned out there was an error when they put in my postcode and it never got sent. Sigh!

The good news is though that it finally arrived this week (amazing it only took 4 days once I followed it up) so I can join up with Sunday Stash which is being hosted this week by Allison at Dreaming in Patchwork.

I should say this is probably not a group of fabrics I would have chosen for myself but I have to say there are some in there I quite like.

I love the camera fabric and the large spots which come in several different colours.

I'm really not a 'low volume' kind of girl so its not something I'm drawn to but I also won some fabric recently on another BOM and it too is low volume so I think the quilting world is trying to tell me something!

I'll have to think for a while on what I'm going to use this layer cake for.  I haven't used one before and I was surprised at how much fabric you get.  I'm thinking that if I throw some grey and maybe orange solids into the mix it might just speak to me!

Off to link up!

  1. I love that grey sewing print on the far right. What is it?

  2. I am using a layer cake to do the square on my Girls day out quilt, so maybe look for something with stitchery panels and if there are any uglies in there, they are spread out in little bits. Just an idea :)

  3. Congrats on winning! You should check out the Moda Bake Shop website because they have tons of free patterns using their precuts. You can search by precut under the Bakery tab :)

  5. The more I see low volume quilts the more I am drawn to them... so I hope your new fabrics do the same for you! Since they are free it's a great opportunity to just play around and find out.

  6. Congrats on your win! I love the twenty three camera and tickets prints! I couldn't afford an FQ stack so only got a charm pack in the hope it would quench my thirst! I have no idea what to use mine for either! :-)

  8. Love Layer Cakes, they do provide a lot of fabric. I am in a Bee and this month the girl asked us to use low volume prints, ugh, I don't have any so I am coming up with alternatives, I'm more of a bright color kind of girl. So you never now when you will need those low volume stuff.

  11. I adore the 23 fabric! {I probably won't be stashing any of it, so I love the chance to admire it on other people's blogs :) } I have never bought a layercake for myself because I didn't think you got enough of each fabric to make it worthwhile, but I recently cut into one that I won and was pleasantly surprised.
