Well, the photo at the top shows my first quilt. I made it using the paper foundation method and it started as a cushion cover and ended up as a single bed sized quilt for my son Simon. I sent a photo in for a competition and was contacted by Australian Patchwork & Quilting and asked to write the pattern for publication. It took me a while but it was a really good learning curve as up until then I had just decided to add a bit more so I went and bought more material. I then had to work out how to calculate fabric requirements and so it made me think about the whole process differently. When you're self-taught, thats how you learn! I made it all by machine and did the quilting all myself using a walking foot, no free motion. This quilt took me quite a while, particularly as I was heavily involved on a committee at the time with little free time. I retired from that after nearly 10 years so now I have a little more time, but not enough! Anyway, that's a short story about my first quilt and just in case I ever change the picture at the top I guess I should post a photo if I can work out how to!
well i trawled back in your blog to find this, can't believe no-one commented. It is a fabulous quilt, let alone a first quilt. Loved seeing it yesterday.I especially love that wavy border.
